Darmita G Wilson, our 2026 keynote speaker.

Darmita G. Wilson is a transformative healthcare leader with a 35-year career focused on mentorship, health equity, and enhancing the rural healthcare workforce. As the Vice President of Medical Education at Northern Light Health, she builds strategic partnerships, oversees residency programs, and manages affiliations with more than 160 academic institutions. Her nationally recognized collaboration with Morehouse School of Medicine introduces diverse physician assistant trainees to Maine, effectively addressing provider shortages and promoting equity.

As an educator and mentor, Darmita bridges classroom learning with real-world leadership, inspiring students to pursue careers in rural healthcare and shaping future leaders through her commitment to servant leadership. Grounded in the belief that access to healthcare is a fundamental right, her leadership reflects a dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Her initiatives include system-wide Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) efforts, mentorship programs, and participation on Maine’s Social Equity Advisory Committee. Looking ahead, she champions innovations such as tele-mentorship and AI-enabled simulation centers to strengthen rural healthcare. Guided by the principle that “true leaders don’t create followers; they create more leaders,” she continues to invest in emerging professionals—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—ensuring that the next generation of healthcare leaders is well-equipped, empowered, and reflective of the communities they serve.
